History of Skandagiri temple

Before we start reading I will make you one thing clear that Skanda Giri temple is also known as Sri Subrahmanyaswamy temple. Going forward I will use both the names that you can clearly understand.

Let’s get started.

Do you know in the 1960s, a group of passionate devotees of Lord Subramanya formed a committee to celebrate Aadi Krithigai?

They decided to build a temple by getting the idol of Lord Ganesha done by a chapati in Chidambaram.

Lord Subramanya appeared at the devotee’s dream and asked him to remain salt less till the setup was finished.

The idol of Ganesha was ready; however, they had been looking out for location for the temple. People usually ask about skandagiri temple rahu ketu pooja timings as they usually come for this particular pooja.

Skandagiri temple

It was during the time Maha Swamigal seen Secunderabad.

The team had a meeting with Mahaswamigal and expressed their concerns.

While passing by a little hillock, Mahaswamigal, stopped by and declared that the hill lock would be the perfect location for your temple.

He then called the worried owner, who readily agreed to sell his property.

Temple was assembled at a short while and Mahaswamigal himself played the Sankabhishegam of Lord Ganesha.

In late the 1960s, the primary deity of Lord Subramanya along with Valli and Devasane were installed by Mahaswamigal.

During later years, other idols also came into place, with the blessings of Mahaswamigal.

This was a quick history or you can say the summary of skandagiri temple for more details you can visit the official website of skandagiri temple here.
